Thanks for the info. The manual indicates that the starter motor has to come out to separate the engine from the gearbox. I must have been about halfway there as I removed one of the bolts off the centre support, but not the second. Will do this next time - in a couple of weeks. I'm sorta getting used to driving without 2nd gear.
So you reckon that the wedding wasn't worth the $35 million or so that it cost! Your contribution would probably have been gratefully received!
Where abouts in Denmark are you? I was born in Copenhagen. _________________ John H

Hi John,
Well of course the wedding was nice and all, but.. They didn't show much of anything else for the whole goddamn week on TV. And I'd rather see those money spent on our highways, so we might be allowed to drive 130km/t instead of 110.
Nah, doesn't happen every year, so I guess it's okay.
No kidding! Born in Copenhagen, sweet.
"Roedgroed med floede!"
I was born about 30kms from Copenhagen, in Hoersholm, and now I live with my parents in the neighboring town, Kokkedal. _________________ //Wizz

My love to you wizz!
this is just what i`ve been looking for all theese months
SOMEONE who FINALLY has actually FIXED the 33 gearbox on his own.
GOOD JOB!
As i got 2 f**** gearboxes myself , i wanna try to fix one of them.
Therefore...
....would you be so kind to make a "how-to" manual on how you did it?
i know it would please so many 33 owners!
my regards |

Hi BillaBoo, glad you liked the pictures - that's why I took them in the first place.
How-to manual, eh? Urgh...
No, I certainly wouldn't mind doing one, but I simply don't have the time for it right now. Christmas is here, busy at work (end of year, whoo) and all that.
I might do one in the holidays between Christmas and New Years Eve. _________________ //Wizz

hehe, i understand. Well it would be great if you had time any day. Wont get my gearbox back before ...after 1st of january. So if you had the time to do it before new years eve, you would be my hero!
I could always do it by you explanation earlier on this topic and follow the pictures... it would just take longer time i suppose ,)
But a little question, where did you order those parts you used?
synch rings, speed control fork, nut .. and so on
thanks |

the alfa 33 gearbox manual has a step by step guide to disassembly, testing and rebuilding. along with wizz's pictures it shouldnt be too hard to follow the instructions.
i'll try and report back as much info about the rebuild as i can. but i wont be starting it till well after new year.
