Castle combe circuit has been served with a NUISANCE NOISE ORDER.
This is mostly aimed at the British GT and F3 as some of the locals have complined about the level of noise that came from these champoinships last year, 2005 meeting is to go ahead with slightly reduced noise limits!
2006 is another matter this order if its brought in will stop the running of this meeting in 2006.
Letters of support would be greatly appreciated by the circuit.
more information is on the website www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk click on news section,or contact the circuit direct on 01249782417
hopefully with enough support the order can be removed for good _________________ (00=\°/=00) (00=\°/=00)

It got further than that in New Zealand.
Local residents are trying to get Western Springs Speedway closed down (see http://www.speedwayclub.co.nz/).
The speedway has been around for so long that the residents would've all moved in knowing that a speedway was nearby, but some of them have still decided it's too noisy and they're getting close to having the place shut down. The speedway is having to comply with silly noise restrictions which means 6 cars per race instead of 20 (how fun is that? They're not gonna crash that way!) etc.
None of the residents who are against the speedway want to be named, because speedway fans would go and bash them! |

Go Ben! You're right, the speedway has been there for 70yrs odd. Alot longer than most of the stirrers are old. It's regarded as a top family night out with no louts, drunkeness, safe parking and all round a damned good fun evening. Some people just can't stand to see others enjoying themselves.
But don't think it's confined only to motor racing. Our pony club has had to sell up because of encroaching urbanisation and we have bought some 12k further out. We were immediately approached by a hastily formed residents group who had initially tried to stop us ( they couldn't) and then wanted to dictate what we could and couldn't do and build. Half a dozen households who invariably work in the city and then toddle home to their lifestyle blocks and think they are "country" Kids on ponies might make noise apparently and of couse the extra traffic of parents cars, to say nothing of the visual pollution of people riding over the grounds instead of picturesque fluffy white sheep. Sorry I've ranted but it's the same sort of mentality.
Up the lot of them.

My boss's mother has apparently been campaigning against the setting up of a golf course. What's wrong with a golf course? It's the best way to ensure an area of land will stay covered in grass and trees for the forseeable future.
Perhaps she's worried about the noise of golfers cursing when their shots land in the water.. |

And there's always such a loud clunk when the ball is struck to say nothing of loud cries of "fore" Horrendous!
