Lean, as to why I'm sure a physics expert will explain. Won't make the car overheat as such in normal use but will (or can) burn out the valves

As stated, fuel mix can affect engine temp - but more so in the cylinders themselves. I greatly advanced ignition timing can also increase eng. temp.

External causes: failed (closed) thermostat; failed or inefficient water pump; pure water or failed coolant (highly diluted) in the system; locking brakes; high ambient/atmospheric temp; low engine oil level; standing idle in traffic for extended periods; inefficient coolant flow especially through various hoses; a leak in the system; cooling fan not coming on or coming on very late (possible failed thermo-timer). Have you actually measured the coolant temp in the header/expansion tank? There may actually be correct temp but the temp gauge or sender is faulty.

THe 33s are well known for overheating on hot days (whether it's humid or dry).

As you can see, there ae many causes, so you need to work through each one carefully. Start with checking the cooling system itself (temp, flow, leaks etc).
