With the V6 33 and the 2 door coupe that we have seen recently, it got me thinking about what else we can do to a 33.
I have always entertained the thought of a 33 Cabriolet, but my photochop skills are rubbish and my mate wouldn't let me cut up his parts car.
We did manage to turn a 33 4x4 wagon into a skip bin, after cutting out the floor pan to go into a rally Sud and tipping it over. They do hold alot even upside down.
So what would you do if you had a welder and the inclination? _________________ Specialization is For Insects

I think I've seen pictures of a 33 Cabriolet. It was series 3 and dark green I think.
But I've never seen anyone rip the back seats out, cut the floorplan and use the mechanicals from a donor car to make a 33 mid-engined RWD!
You'd have the small problem of where to put the fuel tank.. but that could probably go in the engine bay. I'm sure such a car would have no problems passing a roadworthiness inspection! _________________ "Now, all that is left to do ... is wait that something else brokens, to fix up again!" |

What ever happened to Alfa Aids turbo`d i.e ?
now a v6 2.0 turbo from the 164, that would be a nice idea.

The best thing you can do to a 33 is MAKE IT ORIGINAL and PERFECT.

That’s fine for a traditionalist, but not for an individualist, each has their own merits.
Me, I love them both and admire bespoke designs along with restoration “mint” I think is the word. _________________ x2 33 16v

I'm with bobbber on this.
That cabrio is clever and must have taken alot of skill, but it looks like a fackin pug 306 cabrio.

Sorry, I never got it with soft tops, unless you're a poser I guess. They're crap when seriously hot, crap when cold, crap when raining, crap when you've got a girlfriend with a neat hairstyle, crap because they have to be heavier to strengthen up the chassis and crap because the chassis is never as stiff as a hard top. unless you have a 73 spider sitting in your back garden,waiting for a twin spark to be fitted, then it's fun
as for the 33. make it standout.but not chavie

it looks to me that they have used a hard cover from a renault 19 16v behind the seats. |

Ah now Paul, don't dismiss a rag top out of hand. for 15yrs the wife and I had an MG 1500 TF. It wound up with adjustable front suspension, turreted 5 link rear , 12" front discs, 11.5" rear discs and supercharged 1650 Ford with lots of special gear blowing 17lbs max on 8.0 to one comp. Top speed was only 117mph due to drag and 100mph in 3rd gear but if you floored it in 2nd at say 40mph it would sit still and pour smoke off the tyres. These were needless to say somewhat wider than standard. It ate a lot of fancier cars and was one of the ultimate sleepers. The first two years after it's reincarnation it only had aero screens and for the next two years had no hood. Used to go to the club balls etc like this and the missus was always one of the belles of the ball. She had a fur coat (known as Tatty Puss ) and I had a big sheepskin. The midnight blasts under a clear frosty sky are one of the highlights of my motoring life that can never be equalled.
