|

Hi!
Got a 33 16v that gets a too fat mixture
I ve changed the following;
Lambda, Plugs, plug-wires, idle valve, injectors, cleaned airfilter..
But the idle is still bouncy, and it can drown if i`m not rev`ing it.
any ideas? _________________ 1990` AR 33 16v

I think if the fuel pressure is where it should be then you check the emissions before the cat and adjust with mixture screw, disconnect lambda if one is fitted. If it is still out after and with lambda re connected then i would be stumped, as i am with mine _________________ x2 33 16v

My spark-plugs is getting black of.. (i dont know the english word for it, but you get my point). And idle is crap, sometimes you can hear it drown, and i have to carefully rev it..
This cts sensor. Where is it located?
BigAl - mixture screw? do i have one? i thought this was all controlled by the onboard computer(brain, head unit .. ) _________________ 1990` AR 33 16v

The CTS is on the front left throttle body "as you sit in the car", it has a blue plastic on it. i would take a reading from the extension lead tht comes off of it.
You are correct, the ECU and AFM manage fuel mixture but it needs a correct base line which changes if the ECU or AFM have been changed. If so then you need to tell the ECU that no lambda sensor is connected and then check the emissions before the cat and adjust with the screw which is on the front of the AFM and is normally covered with a plastic cap. _________________ x2 33 16v

any update? did you find a probe small enough to get in hole before cat and set up fule mixture? |
Hi.
Havent got to do that just yet. Gonna try the afm first. if that doesnt work, i might change some temp sensors. is there possible to do a diagnostic check on theese old alfas? _________________ 1990` AR 33 16v

Are you going to change the AFM or clean the temp sensor in it?
There is a diagnostics, called the Alfa tester which does live readings, or there is a home made tester that just reads of stored faults in the form of blink codes.
I had a play around with mine today, I couldn’t put the gas analyser before the cat but in the tailpipe. When I removed the timing relay telling the ecu that no lambda sensor is connected it was way to high. I had to turn it 4 times clockwise before it read proper co, looks like it would pass without the lambda connected. When I connected the lambda, by changing the timing relay and telling the ecu that the lambda is connected it was way out, need a new lambda sensor, or to set it up by measuring before the cat.
So adjustment does work, I will do it properly next time. _________________ x2 33 16v
