Hi all,
I'm putting a replacement engine and gearbox in my 16v and I'm replacing the clutch while I'm at it. But does anyone know how I line up the clutch to mate the engine and gearbox back together? A friend told me I need to get a special "clutch alignment tool". Is this right, and if so where can I get one and what should it cost?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks,

Not really needed, I just use a socket extension and fit 2 bolts finger tight and feel with my hands around the clutch plates to make sure its central, if your engine is out and you can see the centre, you can also check by eye. _________________ x2 33 16v

I have one... pm me address and I'll send you it. As long as you promise to send it back (or I'll come round and knock 7,.............).
Let me know if you still need it...

Similar to this. 1/2" extension bar, and wrap insulation tape round part of it to space it out to the right diameter.
All the best

Thanks guys, that feedback is much appreciated.
Bobber - If you don't mind sending me the proper tool that would be great. I'll pm you my address and I'll certainly cover your postage costs. And you won't need to get heavy, I'll get it back to you quick smart
Cheers,

Cheers RFlower,
I've had a look on ebay and there are lots and they're pretty cheap, so I may well do that,

What I did was take the input shaft out of a knackered gearbox. Know its going to be exactly right then.
Dont use copperease on input shaft as its too sticky and wont line up easily.
Little bit of engine oil or 3inone lubricates but doesnt grip.

Cheers Rsfruitbat,
I've bought a clutch alignment tool now and I'll use this with a liberal amount of 3 in 1,
