Got the old exhaust off this morning, had lunch and went outside to fit the new centre section and the front bracket (the one near the lambda sensor) has been welded on upside down.

Grrrrrr!

No way, i feel for you J.C. got hacked off when i wasn't supplied a fitting kit, sent the cat back, i know how you feel!!

Before I call the supplier I'm going to call Mangoletsi and see how much an Alfa system will be.

Back boxes £90 inc VAT, Cat is now NLA.

My supplier are collecting the cat tomorrow and will ship a new one out Wednesday assuming not all their stock is wrong. They are also send a back box which was an extra £35 ish.

Hi,

What make backbox are you putting on? I think the pattern ones are often 'walker'.

Had a walker on my car when I got it, and it had quite a raspy note. Then fitted a genuine backbox which lasted 6 years/ only about 12,000 miles of which 2 years the car was garaged! -Rotted along the box seam.

Did you suss out the direction of the cat gasket- I think I guessed the last couple of times- no leaks (touch wood).

Box and Cat are coming from a factors in the Midlands called RSJ who sell loads of stuff on ebay (where I first found the cat).

The box I've just taken off is Walker and I'd have fitted it back on where the cat pipe not solidly rusted / pasted in to it. I could probably get it out but the box isn't that good! At least I can then forget about the exhaust for a few years.

I'm going to fit a new Lamda sensor too.

Yes that's what I was planning, one or other of the local factors quoted me about £45 I think.

Btw, the old cat was completely empty, so whether the old matrix had fractured and headed down the pipe or the previous owner was a bit naughty I don't know. Interesting that it passed an MoT in that state (Al!). If I'd know I'd have fitted cat-less system!
